About Me

My photo

Hi, I'm Kirsty. I'm 23 years old from Southampton, UK. I studied Forensic Biology at University and graduated in 2014. I work as a Assistant Store Manager in retail because I love it, I love people and it allows me to spend more time with my family :)

I have been with my wife, Heidi, since February 2012, married since April 2016 and have a beautiful baby boy, Woody, together born 25/07/16.

We're a very active family, we have a little Westie, Trudy, too. So we love dog walking, holidays and lots of adventure!!

I've blogged our journey through planning our baby, trying, conceiving, pregnancy and onwards in the hope of helping others fulfil their dreams as we did. Find link below. Enjoy :) and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions :)

Start as you mean to go on!

It's been a while since my last blog, as we all know the Christmas period can be very chaotic!

Our first family Christmas was lovely, even for someone like myself who doesn't really like Christmas!! We had a lovely quiet day as a family of 3! Woody didn't really care, if I'm honest, he was entertained by the Christmas tree lights, and the wrapping paper for all of about 20 seconds and then he was bored! He did bless us with projectile vomiting and an explosive poonami all over his Christmas outfit though....Typical day in the Palfrey house haha!! We didn't go overboard on him this year, there wasn't much point, but out of all the little presents we did buy him, his best present came from his Great Grumpy Grandad!! He bought him the Vtech walker, with the activity centre at the front and Woody absolutely loves it! We bought him a nice plush wooden walker and he's completely disinterested! I guess there's plenty of time this year for him to grow and enjoy all of his presents though :)

I had a full 10 days off over Christmas, which in my whole working life, I have never had! So it was amazing, especially with Heidi being on maternity leave still too! We had lots of time together! Boxing Day we went to visit my mum and sister and Heidi's family, but not before we went sale shopping!! We went to Next, Matalan and Mothercare and we're very almost finished our Christmas shopping for Christmas 2017 :) and that's how it's done! By the end of 2017 Heidi and I will have 17 nieces and nephews to buy for! Sale shopping definitely is the most cost effective way of doing it....No shame on how stingy we are hahaha! On the 27th we went to Somerset to spend some time with my Grandad and Auntie too. So we had lots of family time, as it should be and it was much needed :)

New Year, we thought we'd make some cocktails and have a quiet drink and watch rubbish TV, well, we had one cocktail then we threw on some facemasks and made a cuppa tea!! Haha!! It's the mum life for us now but we love it :) Woody now puts himself to bed, around 6pm he gets really tired and ratty, he likes to have a bottle and go down and we honestly don't know what we used to do with our evenings!! We get so bored! The other night, we played 2 games of cards and a few games of Uno and then got an early night ourselves! What do people do with their evenings when the baby is in bed?! Why do we have such a self-disciplined baby at 5 months old? Where the hell has our little baby gone?! I mean he has his moments like any baby, but he's definitely got his mothers personality; he knows what he wants and likes and he gets it!! We had a wobbly road with him after his last set of jabs, the third set with the Men B jab. Oh God! We genuinely thought our sanity was lost! 4 month sleep regression hit us hard and that's when we collapsed his Chicco Next2Me crib and transferred him to his cotbed. in his own room. He was feeding every 1-2 hours, screaming the house down for no reason, I can honestly say it was awful, a couple of nights we even co-slept just for our own wellbeing!! Somehow, he managed to get himself into his own little routine very fast, thank god!

The biggest news of the year though, just before Christmas, Heidi and I decided to take a leap of faith and get the house valued. Before we knew it our house was on the market, and the 'For Sale' sign was put up outside our house! The interest was low over Christmas, I mean, who wants to buy a house over Christmas? But once the New Year came round the interest racked up! And last week we sold!! We had our eye on a house pretty much as soon as we went up, but they wouldn't except any offers without an offer on our house, which is fair enough, so we held out. And lo and behold, we've sold, the house was still available and after a lot of back and forth, our offer was accepted!! A lovely new 3 bedroom house, in an ideal area for our life, with a lovely big kitchen and square rooms and normal sized doors!! This may seem minimal to some, but when you live in our current house, where the rooms are funny shaped, the kitchen is quite small, nothing fits through the doorways so our furniture is all flat packed....This is so exciting for us!! Aaaaaand, the third bedroom means I've got more of a leg to stand on when I'm trying to convince Heidi that a second child is a good idea ;) haha!!

We've spent the last couple of days new house shopping!! So, start as you mean to go on. 2017 blesses us with our first family home together, our first wedding anniversary and Woody's 1st Birthday.....That's scary right!! Exciting too, I can't believe how fast it's going! He's 5 and a half months old already! This time last year we made our pregnancy announcement!! He's an absolute joy to parent, he's learning so quickly and he makes my heart so happy, he's a pleasure!

In 2 weeks time, Heidi returns to work. It's a very apprehensive time for us. I'm sure it'll be full of trial and error to find the right routine for us but it's all for the greater good! I'm sure Woody won't even care and will swan into childcare like nothing has even changed, while Heidi and I are sobbing on the way to work! It's a big step for us as a family, and hopefully one that'll pay off :) we're in a strong position leading into the New Year. I cannot believe I'm going to be a homeowner!! It's so exciting. I honestly couldn't be happier with our life right now, it's incredible.
