Amongst all the eventfulness, me and Heidi never quite managed to get as far as a honeymoon :( Heidi being 6 months pregnant at the time of the wedding, it would have been too much, too hot and she wouldn't have been able to do everything we wanted to do. So, we postponed the honeymoon until next year when Woody is here too! We're pondering the idea of Mexico currently, be we will see :)
However, with all the excitement and stress and everything being full steam ahead, we booked our last ever holiday as a couple to Crete!! Perfect timing!! The builder had told us we probably wouldn't be moving back in until the weekend after we got home, brilliant! A little break before packing up and moving back home :)
But, of course it didn't happen like that! No, why would it?! That would be too easy! The builders moved us back in the weekend BEFORE!! Which, it'll be amazing to be home, but we had to pack for holiday as well as moving back in and unpacking!! Who knew how much stuff we had? More importantly, who knew how much you could fit in a 1996 Ford Fiesta!! My poor little car, Jenny, she's taken it all in her stride, bless her!!
So now, we were over-worked, underpaid, standard!! Grumpy, sleep deprived and everything was my fault because I put the baby there....Typical!! Love how women think eh?! We were living in a semi-finished house, which had been completely stripped of all it's character, you know, all that stuff that makes a house a home? Now it was just a house, could have been anyone's house, it was just 4 walls! On top of that, we had boxes stacked everywhere, Woody's room soon became the 'dump room', furniture half built everywhere aaaand we still had to buy a lot for Woody! The stress was real!
By the time it came to driving to London to begin our holiday, I think we both agreed we could have done with a week at home sorting the pigsty out! But as it happened, we went anyway. We travelled up the night before and stayed in a hotel because our flight was at 7am! The room was lovely, breakfast was lovely, the flight was lovely....although it seems Woody had something to say about it!! Little pickle!! He now rib jabs as well as punching down on Heidi's pelvis so she can't actually move...It's all fun and games! When I have to pick her up off the floor etc. Pregnant life!
But, we got there, wasted the first day away settling into the hotel which could have been a town of its own it was that big! We booked all our excursions....we don't do relaxing! However, we did book a treatment at the spa! Heidi was least impressed, they were wayyyy to gentle because of her 'condition' when actually, carrying that little boy requires someone to put a little extra pressure on her! Haha! Nevermind, they had her best interests at heart I guess.
We went to see some beautiful cities on the first excursion, and this incredible little lake where we rented a pedalo, and Heidi went swimming. I don't swim, I can't swim...I drown, really well! The second excursion was to a lagoon, which I'll give it some credit, it was beautiful....but actually....It was A LOT of travelling, on a ricketty bus, and a jam packed boat for what I can only describe as a beach....That's all it was! They said luke-warm waters....it was freezing! Nevertheless it was pretty! I'm just not really a beach person to be honest, especially when our hotel was on the beach front...Woody hated the ricketty bus, which made Heidi really grumpy and it was a week of sleepless nights haha!!
The last excursion we went to an archaeological site, ditched the tour guide and had an amazing day....We went to the Cave of Zeus but seriously, I salute Zeus's mum climbing that MOUNTAIN at 9 months pregnant! We got half way up, and I was feeling it and Heidi's poor little ankles were swelling! We aborted that one quite quickly.... Heidi was gutted, she's usually a very active go go go girl! We could have got a donkey ride up, but, I said no, I didn't think it was safe for Heidi, what if she fell? And god knows what diseases they could have been carrying...Nah it was worth missing! We went souvenir shopping instead and ate strawberries :). Then we went to an excavated palace, it was hot and humid and we were so sweaty but it was so incredibly amazing!! By far the best excursion....Woody clearly has the coolest parents in the world haha! Be starting him early on the geek life :))
It was a busy week, not much time to sit and relax but that's how we like it and it was amazing! Lovely last holiday being just the 2 of us, but excited as ever to become 3!! We couldn't wait to get home though and just sort everything out! Besides, Greek food isn't what they make it out to be....I'm vegetarian and I pretty much lived on spinach and ricotta....Heidi isn't veggie but Woody hates the meat they cooked and made her throw up 70% of the time haha! Couldn't win!
On the plane home we realised, we have 11 weeks until Woody's due!! We've put off getting all the 'big' stuff until the house is ready, because of storage and dust and damage but time was running out! We had the money and knew what we wanted but...We hadn't got it! Heidi had a panic moment so the weekend we landed we did a bit of a supermarket sweep....We now have everything we need for Woody's arrival!! His pushchair, car seats, crib, cot, bedding, clothes, toys....Everything!! Thank god for working at Mothercare....Babies aren't cheap! But he's worth every penny!!
Heidi had another week off after the holiday whilst I went back to work...But it wasn't fun. I was stopping at my mums every evening after work, filling my car up with our stuff and going home so then Heidi's job was to unpack everything! Only to find out, everything, EVERY item of clothing we owned had to be washed!! Yes that was approximately 30 loads of washing! She's a superhero!! It just smelt so bad of the damp the house had before, thank god that's all fixed now!! It was so bad! So all that washing, boxes to unpack, Woody's room to tackle as it became the dump room and needed to be his bedroom really!! Gahh it was stressful! But we're getting there! With 9 weeks to go, we should just about be ready on time ;)
I will share before and after pictures of the house transformation soon, but there's still some building work and unpacking ongoing so it's not too pretty at the moment haha! But here's some holiday snaps including some bumpie's :) <3
I'll upddate you all soon! Sorry for the delay, I always say it's hectic and I know it's not going to get better when Woody arrives! But I'll try :))
