About Me

My photo

Hi, I'm Kirsty. I'm 23 years old from Southampton, UK. I studied Forensic Biology at University and graduated in 2014. I work as a Assistant Store Manager in retail because I love it, I love people and it allows me to spend more time with my family :)

I have been with my wife, Heidi, since February 2012, married since April 2016 and have a beautiful baby boy, Woody, together born 25/07/16.

We're a very active family, we have a little Westie, Trudy, too. So we love dog walking, holidays and lots of adventure!!

I've blogged our journey through planning our baby, trying, conceiving, pregnancy and onwards in the hope of helping others fulfil their dreams as we did. Find link below. Enjoy :) and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions :)

The Wedding!

Our wedding, in typical Palfrey style, was obviously just as hilarious as the rest of our lives seem to be! But I guess it makes it more fun!

We are from Southampton, the Southest South of England, and travelled all the way up the country to Grentna Green in Scotland to get married. Luckily, Heidi's mum got a new car just before so she offered to chauffeur us up, around and back down the country! Heidi hates driving on a normal day, probably why she is such an awful driver! Like typical woman driver! So it's bad enough getting in her car anyway, let alone travelling 350 miles, and  with her being pregnant....and grumpy! I drive a 96 fiesta, called Jenny, so she probably wouldn't have even made it that far!

But anyway, I bought my suit back in December when I was a skinny minute UK size 6!! I know!! Heidi bought a dress, hated it, bought another one, got it altered because she's a short arse and was fine! By the time the wedding approached I was fully aware I was no longer a size 6, but was too scared to try on my suit again! I thought, it's only for one day it'll be fine!!

So we got there, settled in, had a gander around Gretna. Nice chilled day before the wedding, no stress. Except the fact I forgot all of our paperwork which said "The wedding may be postponed without possession of paperwork" Oh GOD! The wedding co-ordinator wasn't in until 9am the following morning, we're due to be wed at noon! But anyway, all was fine!

We got up, had breakfast, a nice Costa coffee, and did a spot of shopping. It doesn't matter what, we always go shopping and we always end up buying Woody something else; more than likely something he probably doesn't need! But I guess that's the fun of being an expectant parent! We get back to the hotel, Heidi and I go one way and our mothers to their own rooms to get ready. We all wore a little bit of tartan for the occasion! Heidi's mum was quite the toned down Hippy actually, some vibrant patterned trousers that were actually really nice, and a white jumper/top and pink blazer. My mum wore a pencil skirt, pink jumper and her Dr Martens in true fashion! We looked a right family, just how we like it!

Heidi slides into her dress, looking absolutely gorgeous! Woody's bump accentuated well! Then I put my suit on, the shirt and blazer fit fine, I have no boobs so that was okay. The trousers, lovely tartan trousers....Size 6!! I manage to squeeze them over my tree trunk thighs but....I had the biggest camel toe! I cannot get married with a camel toe! The photo's would have been a picture! I had nothing else to wear except leggings which was a no! So Heidi, and her innovative ways, tells me to stuff my pants with tissue to push the camel toe out, like you would if you're monthly cycle surprises you and you have nothing! So I got married with tissue in my pants! Yup! It can't all be perfect eh?!

We got into the famous Blacksmith's shop, which was amazing! Medieval type place, like the geeks we are. The people were lovely, our registrar greets us! And we go in to what should be the most emotional time to say our life vows to one another, no, we were almost crying holding in our laughter because my mother is sobbing like a grizzly bear! It was hilarious!! The ceremony was cool though, when the registrar pronounced us married, he hit the anvil with a hammer. I thought that was quite cool anyway, not like all weddings, but perfectly us!

After the ceremony, we had a photographer, she was lovely, very quick and to the point so we couldn't get bored and just as I was getting cheek ache from smiling and the rain started to come down (typical Britain) it was over! So perfect timing really! There was a bagpipe player outside too and he let us have our picture with him and he congratulated us! So did all the tourists there! Which was quite nice!

We had our 'reception' if you like. In a tea room, tea and a giant scone, then we went to the gift shop! Anyone that knows Heidi, knows she basically only goes anywhere for the gift shop! Again as well as souvenirs, Woody got some nice tweed grandpa shoes! They were too cute to walk away from! Then we went back to the hotel for our wedding meal. So overall it was quite a chilled stress-free wedding which is exactly what we wanted!

But that was short-lived. We got home and had to finish packing to move in with my mum for the work on the house to start by the next day!! Never ending!! We've taken before and during pictures, and we'll get some after one when it's done :) hopefully it's worth it!! So currently we're still living with my mum, it's only been a week so it's not too bad! But I've booked a 4D scan for Woody and we're looking at holidays....Because we all deserve to treat ourselves and we need a break!!

So now, I think you're all pretty much up to date with what's happening in real time! But I do plan to continue blogging throughout and after Woody's birth :) Just don't be alarmed if my posts aren't so frequent. But for now, here's a little wedding photo story for you all :)
